Program OutlineWe have designed a dynamic one-day program in each city where fund managers, institutional investors and industry thought-leaders will meet to exchange knowledge and valuable information on investment opportunities in private equity and venture capital followed by one-on-one meeting sessions. Here is a summary of the day: |
| 10:00 -10:45 | OPENING PLENARY - THE STATE OF THE U.S. ECONOMY FOR INVESTORS – What’s in Store for 2010 and Beyond? Many economists are saying the U.S. financial markets are in 'recovery mode' and predict economic growth to be relatively steady in 2010. Is this growth sustainable? Is the market ripe for investors? If so, how will U.S. regulatory changes, legal and tax considerations impact your investments including private equity and venture capital? These questions and others will be addressed by private sector and government officials as they share their expertise on the state of the U.S. economy and private equity and venture capital. |
| 10:45 - 12:15 | PRIVATE EQUITY / VENTURE CAPITAL - Generating returns in a challenging climate As we emerge from the U.S. crisis, the dynamics of private equity and venture capital investing are evolving unlike any previous era the industry has experienced. Though investments have increased significantly in Q3'09 as compared to the bottom in Q1'09, these sectors still contend with discussions predicting consolidation and the possibility of regulatory changes. In light of these hurdles, the private equity and venture capital industry is redefining itself and remains some of the most attractive asset classes available to investors. The panelists will share their thoughts on whether this is the time to be contrarian and fund new ventures and buyout strategies, explore which sectors and geographies have become most attractive, and discuss what their respective firms are doing to capitalize on these new opportunities. |
| 12:15 - 12:45 | MEET AND GREET – A short break to enable you to make your introductions | |
| 12:45 - 13:45 | NETWORKING LUNCH |
| 14:00 - 15:00 | LP PERSPECTIVES – A Roundtable Discussion Navigating the world of the global LP is not simple. You’ll hear from institutional investors their assessment of the p.e./v.c market, their approach to investing in these asset classes, particularly in light of market conditions. Learn of their current and long-term commitments to p.e./v.c and which sectors they feel are most compelling from a fiduciary perspective. They will also reveal their process for sourcing new fund manager talent and strategies used to do so. |
| 15:00 - 17:30 | ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS This important segment of the program will facilitate face-to-face short meetings between fund managers and institutional investors to discussion their respective investment focuses, considerations and processes. Participants will benefit from first-hand perspectives in a small group session format that fosters candid exchange and relationship building. |
